How the family connection came about is the quintessential story of America as a nation of immigrants and Ireland as a land that supplied them, including Obama’s greatgreatgreatgranddaddy on his mother’s side,

I know, I know, it is a stupid question cause nobody can claim no human being. But stay with me for a second here. What I’m askin is what state, what country wants a piece of the first African American to be President of the United States of America and the most powerful man on earth?

The man was born in Hawaii, so that state done laid down its claim as the birth place of this man who surely gon be in the history books standin taller than a whole lotta Black and White Americans, and it don’t matter whether he fails or succeeds as president.

But wait a minute, the man cut his political teeth in the Chicago school of politics, so those folks in Chicago and the state of Illinois got themselves a claim on him too.

And then there is Kenya, where some of his kinfolks still live. Hell, the whole of Africa wants a piece of the man. Shucks, the whole African diaspora wants some of him. Okay, okay, I looked up that word in the dictionary. But don’t get me started on this thing bout all peoples of color being united.

His grandparents ancestors were from Ireland. So now, some dude in Ireland done looked up the records and discovered that his great, great, great granddaddy on his mother’s side immigrated from Ireland. So now the Irish got a claim on the man.

Everybody wants a little piece of the man’s big toe. I tell you I sure in hell wouldn’t want to be president in his place.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS LET THE DUDES KEEP THE MONEY

As I understand this here situation bout them bonuses that there insurance gave some folks, they gave them bonuses fore they got the bailout money. Another thing, them bonuses was given under contract. Not only that, I saw on the news yesterday that congressman admit he put something in the bill to let the company off the hook for giving them bonuses. He claimed he did it cause somebody in the treasury asked him to.

Hell, when do congress folks do what them folks in the administration ask them to? Man, the dude was slippin and slidin tryin to git out the mess he got himself into.

As it see, using my common sense, tryin to get back the money may cause more problems than the money is worth. Hell, the money gon, so let’s git on with what’s left and git the economy workin again.

Another thing, I don’t think them dudes what caused the mess oughta be still workin to correct it. They made them some money, so what reason they got to try to fix the mess. They probably so incompetent, they couldn’t fix it anyway. No, man, show them the door and use you foot to make sure they git out.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS MARCH MADNESS IS HERE!

I’m basketball fanatic, and sure like the Lady Vols from the University of Tennessee here in my hometown of Knoxville. Hey, I know they aint gon be in the final four and sure in hell aint gon win the NCAA title this year, but they sure gon be in the tournament despite what for the Lady Vols was a poor season. Yeah, yeah, they won 20 games but, man, they lost the SEC tournament and lost to some teams they shoulda beat.

I’m picking the Lady Huskies of Uconn to make the final four and win it all, what with that young lady Maya Moore, who gonna beat super star in the WNBA.

I like to watch the women play basketball better than the men at the college and professional level cause they still play fundamentally. And I likes to watch the men college players cause unlike the professional they don’t usual do nothin fancy. And you see more coachin than you do in professional basketball.

Yessir, I plans to be a couch potato in a few weeks watching the NCAA basketball tournament.

No, the Vols men’s aint gonna make the final four. Hell, they’ll be lucky to make the sweet sixteen.

I, Alvin, says sports is good for the soul.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON JUST WANTS TO KNOW

Don’t git me wrong. I like watching sports and think the guys and gals worth the millions of dollars they gits.

What I’m upset bout is, if the economy is so bad, how come the owners of the ball clubs can pay millions of dollars to the players? Where that money coming from? My cousin lost his job at a big company that went belly up. Now he is beggin the government for some of that bailout money, and aint likely to git it.

I aint mad at them athletes, no sir, or them owners cause they gittin the money from us, you and me, Mr. and Ms, Miss, and Mrs. fan, and all them folks who watch games on TV, so the advertisers pay big money to advertise and them TV folks pay owners of ball teams big money to show the games.

And another thing, how come the politicians can so easily find money for war but always harpin bout theys not enough money for health care and unemployment and other stuff folks need that only the government can provide?

Somebody please school me. I just want to know.
