Okay, now yo’all clambering for prosecution of them lawyers who gave President Bush and his gang some really bad legal advice. How come yo’all want to prosecutor the messenger and not the ones who made the decision and okay the policy that said torturing them terrorists was not against the law.
Now common sense tells me yo’all once again want to hold the little guy responsible and not the big boys. Hey, says common sense, ifn you gon prosecute the messenger, then you got to prosecute them what asked for the message. That’s right, you got to prosecute the president, vice president, and secretary of defense in the Bush administration.
And I aint so sure you shouldn’t prosecute some congress folks what was told what them memo said. As one journalist has written, “congress failed, the press failed, the judiciary failed.”
This whole mess came bout cause Bush and Cheney was tryin to establish some kinda imperial presidency. You know, the president of these United States had the right and authority to do what he damn well pleased without any say so from the congress or the courts.
No sir, I’m agin prosecuting anybody cause it aint gon do no good for nobody. Let us the American people know what happened so we can kinda see that it don’t happen again.
Hell, common sense say we aint without guilt in the whole mess cause we just let the president and his gang do whatever they pleased after 9/11. And they damn well pleased to do a lotta bad things.
Again somebody is callin on President Obama to be superman and do somethin bout a problem that he can do nothin bout by hisself.
Man, it’s a lotta ocean out there, and them pirate dudes can hit from anywhere.
I’m talkin bout the pirates raidin ships off Somalia’s coast. One of the crew members from the ship Maersk Alabama wants the President to stop the pirates. Don’t git me wrong, I think them guys what fought back was real brave. But let’s git real, our President can’t stop them pirates by hisself. The French already doin their part. They captured one of the pirates’ mother ships. Common sense says, that’s what’s got to happen, a whole lotta other countries got to git involved.
And another thing, unless somebody stabilizes the situation in Somalia, a country that done already gon to the dogs, a basket case, so them pirates don’t have no place to dock the ships they take, stoppin them aint gon happen.
How bout this, let’s put navy seals on all them ships and when they see pirates comin, blast those suckers outa the water. Man, we got to git mean, and I’m talkin bout all the countries what send ships into the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden.
I know companies fraid to stop payin ransom cause it would mean the crew members would be killed. Common sense says the pirates is bank on the morality of the owners. Well, common sense also says we got to make it dangerous for the pirates. They actin big and bad cause they got big guns and think nobody can do them in. Well, the world’s navies got to show them they guns is bigger, and they don’t mind blasting them little boats outa the water.
The philosopher of common sense comin atya again. And this time I’m rantin on our policy toward Cuba.
Some folks, and not just Cuban Americans, don’t like the idea of President Obama allowing Cuban Americans to travel there to see their kin folks, or to send money to kin folks in Cuba. And they sure in hell don’t him and nobody else talkin bout liftin that there embargo, no sir, not until them Castro brothers stop being bad boys and give them cubans some democracy.
Come on, folks, how long has that embargo been goin on–40, 50 years, and Fidel didn’t change his ways, and you can’t expect his brother Raul, the new president, to change his. I mean common sense tells me no man who been in power for 50 years is gon give up that power cause somebody in the U. S. of A. Says they gotta do it.
Common sense tells me to engage Raul, lift the embargo. Get Real, if something aint worked in 50 years what make some folks think it gonna work now cause Obama is President?
I say flood the island with Americans throwin money round like it grow on trees, and the folks in Cuba might start some kinda capitalism goin, forcin them brothers to make some changes.
I am surprise at some things folks, especially folks who suppose to be smart, like politician, do some times.
Take for instance the folks in Texas. Them creationism crazies still tryin to get religion in the schools again, but this time the Board of Education used its common sense and said no. Common sense says them creationist folks ought to stop, but they won’t cause they don’t use common sense.
Recently, a state legislator in Texas had heard about the problems of Windows Vista, though Vista been around for some time now. His solution was to ban Vista from all government computers. Now I wonder what he replaced it with? Common sense says, hey fellow, hold on, let the computer folks in Texas take a look at your systems first.
A judge in Iowa struck down the ban on gay marriage. The religious folks who keep sayin marriage between folks of the same sex will destroy traditional marriage between a man and woman lost another one. Whata you wanta bet that it wouldn’t stop them from tryin in ‘nother state. Common sense asks how in hell does gay marriage destroy marriage between a man and woman? I mean, me marryin the woman I love don’t have nothin to do with two people of the same sex marrying each other.
What America needs to do is resurrect common sense.
