ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS DO YOU BELIEVE THIS

The Warren Times Observer newspaper in Warren, PA ran this classified advertisement a few days ago: “May Obama follow in the steps of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy!”

For those of you who don’t know your American history, the four men were American presidents who were assassinated.

Now here is kicker in this sorrow mess: the publisher apologized and said the advertisin folks on the paper didn’t know who them four men were.

The philosopher of common senses thinks he oughta send them advertisin folks back to school and make them take a course in American history.

Course the publisher did do the right thing: he turned the information bout who put the ad in the paper to the cops.

Now what I want to know is ifn the folks who paid for the ad are some kinds of nut cases, cause they had to know talkin bout assassinating the President of the United States would bring down the Secret Services on they behinds. Then maybe they knowed them folks at the newspaper didn’t know nothin bout them four dead presidents.

Anyway, common sense shoulda tole them bout the Internet where nothin escapes them bloggin folks.

Now I aint sayin the folks what paid for the ad are racists but, man, it show do make me suspicious.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS TIMES THEY ARE GETTIN BETTER

Lord, it is a great day in Mississippi. I mean who’d ever thought it, a Black man becoming mayor of a town where the White folks are 56% of the population?

Yes sir, it done happened in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the town where the Klan murdered three young mens, one black and two white, in 1964. I read bout in the New York Times on Friday the 22.

Yes, the philosopher of common sense reads the New York Times. I aint no fool.

The philosopher of common sense think he sees progress in them race relations between Blacks and Whites in these United States. I don’t know if race done disappear or if it will ever disappear from our nation but I do know progress done been made.

What progress, Common Sense Philosopher, you ask?

Well, now a Black is President of these United States, somethin I would’ve dreamed of when I was growing up.

And a Black man is the mayor of a town in Mississippi where the majority is White. That means some White folks voted for him, don’t it?

Yes sir, the philosopher feels good bout these United States.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS WE LOVES OUR GUNS

My friend Leroy done got himself a permit to carry a gun now that he can take it into the local bar where he goes sometimes for a cold one on a hot summer day.

Them folks in Nashville, where the them that makes the laws meet to make the laws, done passed a allowing folks what got permits to carry guns into any place what serves whiskey or liquor, or whatever you call it. They call it alcohol. This includes family type restaurants and bars.

Course, now, you don’t have to worry none bout mixin liquor and guns cause ifn you’re drinking liquor, then you can’t carry no gun.

Hey, some folks is sayin, they got the same law in other states and aint nothin happened.

The reason for carryin guns into bars and such is cause folks been killed by some crazies, such as them what was killed in Virginia. Now use common sense here. Would havin a gun have stopped that fool what done the killin? Oh, I know, somebody with a gun coulda shot him ‘fore he killed all those folks. Maybe and maybe not.

Well, ifn aint nothin happen in them states that got the laws, why we need such a law?

And nother thing, some of them politicians in Nashville was also talkin bout allowin handguns in state parks, like the Federals done. Another bad idea but then I’m just a poor on common sense fool what don’t know what he talkin bout cause everybody knows guns don’t kill people, people kill people.

Now I aint sayin talk away guns but we got to use common sense and not havin no good gun control laws aint common sense.

I just dont find nothin holy bout totein a gun.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS SAVE THE HORSES

Last week, I wrote bout them folks what want to put a horse meat plant in my home state of Tennessee. Well, this week, there was a story in my hometown newspaper showing some folks down here got some commonsense.

Folks what can no longer feed they horses cause the hard times done made the cost of feed too expensive, can take them to a farm in West Tennessee that a nonprofit group operates. The group will provide them with vouchers to help feed their horses.

The philosopher of common senses says that is what I’m talkin bout when I say use your commonsense.

The farm is called Horse Haven (http://www.horsehavenoftn.com/).

This little aside: the philosopher of commonsense is tryin to come up with a way to stop them pirates what are messin with ships in the Indian Ocean. When I do, I plan to let President Obama in on the secret.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS HORSES MEAT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM FOREIGNERS

NASHVILLE – With cooperation from the state Department of Agriculture, some state legislators are tentatively seeking ways to process horse meat in Tennessee, either for consumption by humans in other nations or animals in zoos.

I got to tell you the philosopher of common sense don’t know what to say bout the politicians here in my home state of tennessee. One year them folks in Nashville who supposed to be making laws for us tried to make it okay for folks to eat road kill.

My question when I read bout the horse meat thing is why would the politicians want to put a plant for processin horse meat in our beautiful state. Now I figured he was gon say something like it make jobs, but he didn’t quite say it like that. What he said was he hoped the law would lure a foreign company  to put a horse meat processin plant in Tennessee and the meat could be sent to them foreign countries what eat horse.

That aint the only reason he gave for wantin a plant in Tennessee. He considered it a first step in dealin with unwanted horses. The meat would also be sold to zoos in the U. S. of A.

We folks in the US of A don’t have to worry bout gettin any horse meat from the grocery cause it gainst the law to sell the meat to humans in the US of A. Course, I know and you know some body gon find a way to pass off the meat as beef ifn there is money to be made.

What I wonder is what fund raiser or corporation asked them politicians to try to put a process puttin the plant in our state.

Course them animal lovers sure aint gon be too far behind but the politicians done take care of that.

“The measure also declares that anyone who files a lawsuit against establishing a horse processing plant in the state must post a bond with the court equal to 20 percent of the cost of building the plant. If the bond is not filed, the bill calls for automatic dismissal of the lawsuit. If the lawsuit proceeds and the plaintiff loses, the bond is forfeited.”

Aint gon be no lawsuit filing, no sir, not here in the state of Tennessee.
