ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS USE COMMONSENSE

I don’t expect a 15 year old girl to use commonsense cause, you see, teenagers don’t always think, they just act. Think bout when you was a teenager.

But I do expect grown folks to use commonsense. That’s why I’m puzzled why grown folks don’t want no law that stops them from TWD (Texting While Driving). No way in hell can you watch the road and type on that tiny pad. I’m gainst talking on the phone while drivin but at least you can use one of them no hands things.

I guess we got to wait until a whole bunch of folks are killed in wrecks caused by TWD ‘fore we take action.

Come of folks, write your congress person and tell her or him how you feel bout folks texting while drivin.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS AINT THESE REPLAYS

Didn’t Brett Favre retire and unretire last year? Now think bout this, he didn’t help the Jets last year, so why do the Vikings think a 39-year-old, washed up man can help them. Get real folks, Favre was once a great quarterback but now he aint even just a journeyman football player. Man, they gon pay the guy a lotta money to embarrass himself and the team. The Vikings Super Bowl contenders with Favre. Come on, that’s a joke, right?

I see in this morning’s newspaper that President Obama praised the Afghanistan for votin. Hey, aint that what President Bush did when them Iraqis voted? Votin don’t solve the problems of the people who are threaten on all sides by the Taliban and the Afghan government. And ifn the government is corrupt and the same dudes are put back in office, what the hell good will a vote do?

Common sense says let Favre stay retired. And get the US of A out of Afghanistan.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS HE WANTS TO KNOW WHY

I believes in free speech and all that crap. But I do have a few questions bout why folks listen to and read bout idiots.

Why do the reporters write about Palin? The woman don’t never say nothin important, and what she do say won’t change a hill of beans.

Why do the newspapers and TV keep on reportin bout them birther folks who keep sayin President Obama aint no citizen of these United States? They crazy and every body know it. Ifn we don’t listen to’em, maybe they’ll go away. They done had their fifteen minutes of fame.

Them protesters against health reform, will somebody please tell me why they get all the publicity when they don’t offer no kinda plan for reforming health care? Okay, maybe they don’t want the government to touch they health insurance, but what bout me, who got some piss poor health insurance, huh, what bout me?

Rush Limbaugh he talk loud and say nothin, nothin, you hear me, nothin. How come folks listen and think he some kinda authority?

And another thing, how come it’s now easy to call somebody a racist? Was a time when folks was afraid to use the word. Now it batted round like it just another ordinary word.

I aint worried, though, cause us folks in these United States, we always git things right in the end.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS WALKING AND TEXTING IS DANGEROUS

Back in July, I read an article on the MSNBC blog that shows how common sense is no longer even considered.

This here 15-year-old girl was walkin long a street in Staten Island busy texting a message to somebody when, blam, she fell right in a manhole.

Now, I agree the workers should’ve had them barriers up. but what I’m wondering is ifn them barriers had been up, wouldn’t she just have fell over them into the manhole anyway, and maybe, just maybe on her head. Hell, them barriers not being up might just have saved her from a serious injury.

That aint the end of the story. Her parents plan to sue the city. You see, it was putrid in that there manhole and, oh lord, the girl left one of her sneakers in that there stinkin manhole.

Well, now, the philosopher of common sense says that there girl shoulda watched where she was steppin. Let’s put responsibility and blame where they belong, squarely on her shoulders.

Anybody with any common sense knows walkin and textin can be very dangerous.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS RACE DON’T ALWAYS MATTER

All them blogs and newspaper and magazine articles bout Professor and the police say if the professor had been white, there wouldn’t have been a problem.

Well, now, right here in my hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, a police officer acted rather foolishly, and the victim was white!

We dont have the officer’s side of the story yet, so you have to take the story with that old grain of salt. As reported in the newspaper, a neighbor called the police to report children fighting at another neighbor’s house. When the cops showed, according to the woman who lived at the house where the boys were supposedly fighting, the officer stood a 7-year-old boy against a fence and handcuffed him. The boy kept yelling “Mama,” calling the woman who had taken care of him for many years.

She said the officer cursed in front of the children, and she was afraid to say anything because she didn’t know what the officer might do to her.

According to the police department, there is no policy against cuffing children but there is on the use of profanity and dealing with the public.

I wonder what the officer expected the 7-year-old could do if he didn’t handcuff him? Maybe he was trying to teach him a lesson, you think.

Alvin, the philosopher of common sense says some of them policemens need a little common sense. Maybe it oughta be given them in the police academy.
