ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS THIS IS FOR PALIN FUNATICS

The online news outlets and blogs say Dear Sarah is planning to trademark the “Palin” name. I say do it Sarah do it cause after 2012 that gravy train you riding will come to a screeching halt. Trademark your name and continue to collect the money the fools are giving you.

The same sources indicate Bristol Palin is writing a book, has bought a house, and is, in general, at 20 years of age, an experienced celebrity. I know you Palinatics are eagerly awaiting the publication of the book. I mean, man, with her experience as a pregnant teen and daughter of a former vice presidential candidate, she has got a whole lot to say.

About that memoir Bristol is supposedly writing, The Huffington Post indicates some that there is some ambiguity—will it be published or not? I mean, them folks in the Palin camp oughta stop teasing us.

Okay, I admit, I probably wouldn’t read it.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS I TOLE YOUALL SHE WEREN’T FIT TO BE PRESIDENT

“Sarah Palin’s supporters and critics need to calm down. She’s a celebrity, not a future president”, is the sub-headline of an article in The Christian Science Monitor on February 3, by Walter Rodgers.

In the article, he lets all of you Dear Sarah funatics and you haters, too, that Dear Sarah is good copy, good for TV. She is, he says, “like a good movie that you don’t want to end.”

For me, a Dear Sarah watcher, I have tried without success to stop watching. She is an addiction because you wonder what she will say and do next. Rodgers is right, only I see her as a funny sitcom, and I wait anxiously for the next episode.

Of course she isn’t presidential material. No matter, the other hopefuls will treat her as if she is the front runner for the Republican nomination for 2012.

In the history of presidential elections, she will be a minor footnote.

All I can say is run, Sarah, run.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS OBAMA DOING HIS JOB

The president’s critics on the right deride him as a radical socialist seething with anti-American rage. To them, he’s a frightening success who has transformed the federal government, ruined the economy, and undermined national security. To the left, Obama is a tragic failure who squandered his chance for dramatic change: no single-payer health-care plan, no heated battle against Wall Street, and endless war in Afghanistan. If the president is struggling these days, the critics say, it’s perhaps because he’s out of touch with Americans, and even at odds with his own principles.

In his article in Newsweek dated November 17, James T. Kloppenberg, defends President Obama’s presidency. As he notes, critics notwithstanding, Obama “is doing exactly what he said he would do.” He refers readers to Obama’s two books Dreams From My Father (1995) and The Audacity of Hope (2006) for confirmation.

The purists on the left and right accuse the President of not doing what they think he ought to be doing. They in effect want to tell him what he must do in the name of the American people (always be skeptical of anyone who says he or she is acting for the American people, or even more dangerous, acts as if they know what the American people want).

For those on the right, the main goal is to defeat President Obama in the 2012 elections. This means demonizing him and any policy he favors. Their idea of bipartisanship is to just say “no” to anything the President wants to do. Why? Because the American people don’t like what this President is doing.

The left’s self-defeating attitude is if the President doesn’t do exactly what he promised or, better yet, what they think he ought to do in the name of those nonrich folks, they’ll abandon him in the next election. Man, that’ll teach him and the next Democratic president a lesson. That this course of action will return the governing of the nation to the Republicans and Sarah Palin and her ick seems to have escaped them.

The right-wingers ain’t gonna change their attitude. But you on the left remember this: politics is the art of compromise.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS SARAH PALIN HAS AN ANTI-PALIN FAN IN RUSSIA

Sarah Plain may be able to see Russia from Alaska, but I wonder if she really wants to see it because at least one writer in Moscow doesn’t think very much of her.

I first read the story in an African American blog about a columnist in Russia who wrote an “hilarious” piece on Sarah Palin. You can read the story here.

In an article titled “Spankin’ Sarah Palin: A clown short of a circus” the columnist says what he thinks about Sarah in the first paragraph:

I have already called Sarah Palin a pith-headed bimbo from the back of beyond, in this column. I shall now go one step further. By attacking the democratically elected President of the United States of America at a sensitive time in her country’s history, she shows the tact of a boorish drunkard bawling obscenities at a funeral.

The rest of the article is just as funny, funny as the first paragraph. No one has captured our dear Sarah as has this Moscow columnist.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS SARAH HAS GOOD PARENTING SKILLS

Sarah Palin is a woman to be admired. How do I know this? How else explain her many fans, mostly female? And every word she writes or says is parsed by the lamestream news media. So, she must being saying something important, right?

What I’m certain about is her parenting skills. She, based on the actions of two of her daughters, has some good parenting skills.

Bristol Plain became pregnant before graduating from high school, and now can make money lecturing other teenage girls about getting pregnant and being a single mom. Just how good of an example is she? She didn’t win the “Dancing With the Stars” trophy. According to the news outlets, she said something to the effect that she was hoping she would win so she could give the middle finger to all those folks who dissed her mom. She is a good example of how to act when you lose.

Then there is the 16-year-old daughter who called somebody a “fag” on Facebook, and as if that wasn’t enough, some really nasty stuff came out of her nasty mouth. Somebody had dissed the Palin reality show about Alaska.

Like their mother, the Palin girls can’t let anyone get away with dissing the Palin family. Fight back and be as nasty as possible.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS TIME FOR TEA PARTY LEGISLATORS TO GOVERN

The Tea party now has many of its followers in the Congress, which is indeed a triumph. Congratulations are in order. You fought hard and you won.

Someone said politics is the art of compromise. I say governing is the art of politics. Smart alecky sound bites aint leadership and won’t get the job of governing this nation. You have, as it were, taken back America. From whom is still not clear.

What is your agenda? In what direction do you plan to take the nation? Saying cutting spending, making the Federal government smaller, saving the tax cuts without showing how you plan to do these things aint gonna cut it.

Reality will soon smack you in the face. And you will have to prove you can lead the nation to better economic times.

The biggest problem we have is the slow economy. How do you plan to put folks back to work?

How to you plan to improve the economy?

Do you plan to waste the tax payers money (we are, after all, paying your salaries) trying to stop the Healthcare law from becoming effective? Do you truly believe that is what the voters sent you to Washington to do?

Time for you Tea Partiers to shut up and lead.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS SARAH IS RUNNING

Sarah Palin amazes me. Not the woman herself. No, the phenomenon that is Sarah Palin amazes me. At the same time, it proves that in America anybody can run for president.

She is an obscure individual who managed to become the first female mayor of a city in Alaska and first female governor of Alaska, which indicates she seems to have political street smarts. This is amazing because, though her captured audiences think the platitudes and clever sound bites coming out of her mouth are profound, based on what I read in the mainstream press and online about her, she doesn’t seem say anything profound or significant.

After reading the article “How Sarah Barracuda Becomes President” by John Heilemann in the New York Magazine, I think she is running, not thinking about it, but actually running for President of the United States.

The real question is “is she qualified?”

Several Republican big wigs don’t think so, including her erstwhile running mate John McCain.

I have no way of judging her philosophy of governing because she avoids the mainstream press and avoids debates that would provide a clue to her philosophy of governing.

To show her true toughness and that she has the ability to govern the nation, she must engage in the rough and tumble that is politics; she must debate and answer questions from unfriendly reporters. Hiding in the Fox news studio and communicating via twitter tells me nothing about the woman who wants to be president of these United States.

Until she engages the unfriendly press, I must conclude that she has not shown she is qualified to be President of these United States.

Qualified or not, she could be the Republican nominee for U. S. President in 2012.
