ALVIN S. SIMPLETON ASKS WHY ARE WE IN AFGHANISTAN

I once axed this question of President Bush bout Iraq. Now, I ax President Obama, who done proclaimed the war in Afghanistan to be a necessary war. Why the hell are we there? I mean please define victory for me.

I think we want to prevent al-Qaida from settin up them trainin camps in Afghanistan. to do that we got to do the impossible, we got to beat the Taliban. Man, aint no nation ever beat any of them bad dudes in that country, dont make no difference ifn they Taliban or warlords or whatever. how come we think we can do it?

We aint very good at bringing democracy to countries like Afghanistan cause we dont study they history. No, Iraq aint no democracy and aint never gon be one cause soon or later a strong man will rise up and put down everybody else cause that the way it always been.

Afghanistan, well, some warlord will take over part of the country while the Taliban take over the rest. How we gon beat the Taliban in they own country? We gon ax them to surrender unconditionally? We gon run them outa Afghanistan? they aint goin no where. we the ones a long way from home, baby.

I say let them Taliban have the country but tell’em ifn they let al-Qaida set up camps, we’ll be back.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS WHERE HAS CIVILITY GONE

I know you’ll done seen all the fuss bout some folks who dont know how to act in public. Well, Common Sense wants to know whatever happen to his cousin Civility?

That dude from South Carolina called the President of the US of A a liar to his face. Man, did that take some balls? Hell no, cause he knew it would git him in good with the folks back home in South Carolina, and sho nough it did. He done raised a lotta cash for his reelection bid. Hell, with the kinda cash he done collected, I’d called the President a liar too. Civility be damn when it comes to gettin cash for reelection.

Now, I got no excuse for Miss Serena Williams. But, come on, you dont cuss and threaten the tennis official, not ifn you want to win and not give up some cash for you bad behavior. What was goin through that girls mind? Them apologies, man, forget it. Common Sense say she was no more sorry than I am, and I aint done nothin.

Last is that fool Kanye West. He got nothin else to do but embarrass hisself? His situation wouldn’t be worth mentioning if it weren’t for the young lady he embarrassed.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS THE PRESIDENT CAN’T CATCH A BREAK

My man President Obama can’t catch a break. No matter the man says, somebody gits pissed off. I aint talkin bout that fool from South Carolina. In the Washington Post on Saturday, Sept. 12, the President and CEO of Partnership for Public Service didn’t like the President using the work “bureaucrat” to describe government workers.

I worked for the Federal government for 32 years, and I didn’t mind being referred to as a bureaucrat. Hell, it made me proud, and I didn’t give a damn that some politicians used the word in a derogatorily. I knew that we at the Social Security Administration were competent because the beneficiaries received their checks on time every month. But I don’t think the President meant any disrespect for government workers. He was making the point that folks didn’t have to worry bout the government taking over healthcare and telling folks what they could or could not have.

Man, give they guy a break. His job is hare enough and gettin harder.

ALVIN S. SIMPLETON SAYS LISTENING AINT SOCIALISM

Barack Obama, President of the United States, will speak to school kids on Tuesday, September 8 about staying in school and studying hard.

I been askin my common sense self why some folks is upset and dont want they kids to listen. It seems they done decided he gon talk bout socialism and try to make they kids socialist. Mind you, they dont know what he gon talk bout since he aint showed them his speech.

What I think is it like anything else President Obama does, some folks just plain dont like the guy. Now mind you, I aint sayin it because he Black, howsoever some folks may well think that is the reason.

So, some parents plan to keep they children home if the school shows the speech on TV. It their right to say what they children should listen to, but common sense says them children will miss out on hearin the President of the United States., Sumpin they could tell they kids bout.

Disagreein with the President on his policies, such as healthcare, is as it should be. But come on, not let you children hear a speech?

Think bout this, ifn you let them hear it and then talk bout it, what you disagree with, it could make them think and become smarter.

I wish I could’ve heard a President speak to me while I was in school.
